And what was YOUR first car?

My first car was a 1961 VW Beetle. And it was yellow. So when I saw this one in a parking lot last week, I had to photograph it. This one's newer and it's brighter and its radio probably works better than mine ever did. But it brought back memories . . . and who can forget their first car? Ah, youth . . . ©Carol Leigh

Greaet shots -- my first car was a black VW Bug, probably early 50's with the small back window. So many great memories!

Mine started out as black, but when I bought it, the dealership offered to paint it any color I wanted. Yellow it was. And yours was an early 50s model? Then yours didn't have a gas gauge either, did it? So you KNOW about the adrenaline rush! --Carol Leigh

Mine was blue and I loved it to death. Understand fully the adrenaline rush. Shades of our wonderful past:)

My grandparents bought their his 'n her VW bugs from the first boatload to arrive in Portland once we re-established trade relations with W. Germany. About 1954 $700 each or thereabouts. They would pass another VW, exchange addresses...go out for coffee...it became quite an elite little social club of VW owners back then. I still have a '64 bug, and some older buses.
