Fly South 2
I shot an airplane wing at Pima Air Museum in Tucson, Arizona and combined it with a big bronze compass "S" photographed in Newport, Oregon. I then added handwriting, an old image of a French hot air balloon, stamps from my passport, and a page from an old algebra book (the best use for algebra I've ever found). Miscellaneous other items complete the mix. What I especially like are all the sharp angles contrasted with the S-curves in the letter and the wavy cancellation stamp covering it. Silver Birds on Blue
I'm particularly fond of this one. It's composed entirely of photos taken in Tucson, Arizona. The elements consist of a silver bird I found on a wooden door, a screened transom with peeling paint, and tile detail from a front doorstep. I added the ubiquitous scrapes and scratches, blendings and shadings to give the piece depth. Not yet available for sale. ©Carol Leigh

Heart Mail Two
This is a variation on the previous "Heart Mail" photomontage I created the other day. Different background, different look. Not yet available for sale. ©Carol Leigh

Heart Mail
A hand-painted mailbox in Tucson caught my eye and I took it from there, adding more hearts, handwriting, cancellation stamps, and more. Not yet available for sale. ©Carol Leigh

Four Twelve Times
Sometimes I come across a number — like this big "4" — that's so wondrously grungy that it stands alone. I found this one on a fishing boat in Astoria, Oregon and just loved it, so it's repeated three more times in this photomontage. I added some lines, scratches, some handwritten "4s" and more, stopping just short of overload. Not yet available for sale. ©Carol Leigh

Salvage Six
Here I combined a photograph of a fishing buoy with a photo taken of an old car in a salvage yard. The splotches behind the "6?" Raindrops on metal. Not yet available for sale. ©Carol Leigh

Six West
A colorful fishing buoy combines with a number I photographed on the side of a fishing boat. I added a "W" I found on a sign in Portland, Oregon, some strings, a compass rose, and that's it. Not yet available for sale. ©Carol Leigh

Chevy 30
A trip to a fishnet storage and repair facility yielded the four photos I used in this photomontage. A blue Chevy pickup truck, an old oil can, rust patterns from a metal fishing boat door, and more rust patterns from a second fishing boat door gave me everything I needed. Not yet for sale. ©Carol Leigh

Pima 3
This brightly colored "3" caught my eye at the Pima Air Museum in Tucson, Arizona. It's been twisted, tweaked, and blurred, scraped, scratched and mangled, then draped with strings. Not yet for sale. ©Carol Leigh

Two Gulls
A gull painted on a fence in Newport, Oregon caught my eye. It apparently was painted a very long time ago -- both it and the fence are weathered and worn. I gave him a mate and then created a background from a lichen-covered boulder I photographed on the Maine coast. Bicoastal gulls . . . Not yet for sale. ©Carol Leigh

You like it . . . It likes you
This recent photomontage is the result of photographing an old rusty car in Washington and then combining it with numerous permutations of an old rusty 7up advertising sign I found in San Diego. Everything is old, worn, scratched and scraped. I added additional wear, blendings, splotches, and grime to come up with this composition. Not yet for sale. ©Carol Leigh
