Invariably, what I set out to create turns out nothing like I thought it
would be, which is the delightful thing about what I do. If I knew what
I was going to make, there'd be no point in making it. (Which may or
may not make sense.) In this case I combined my photos of texture on the
side of a fishing boat, a reflection in the water, a photo I took of
someone's calligraphy practice, and more to create this image that makes
me think of faults, earthquakes, epicenters, etc. I've been re-reading a
book called
Assembling California by John McPhee, and so I've got
