Signage on Route 66

Rummaging around in old files and I found these two, photographed on Route 66 in Arizona. I love the key sign — clever, rustic, weathered. And the complementary colors of blue and rusty orange work particularly well in the "Santa Fe" image. ©Carol Leigh

Now on Flickr . . .

I'm finding Flickr to be a convenient way of creating little galleries of my work and so far I've got 9 "sets" of photos up: Buoys, Car Art, Train Art, High Key, Urban Abstracts, Polaroid, Route 66, and Numbers. Here's the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/80859324@N00/

It took a little time to understand the format, but basically the photos show up in a stream as you post them, most recent first, but off to the right you can see the different sets, which makes it easier. When I visit someone else's Flickr site, I now just automatically glance at the most recent images and then look over to see what sets or galleries the photographer has created.

Looking for a source of inspiration? Flickr's a good place to peruse and to charge your visual batteries.

A bit of Route 66

Route 66 is my kind of place — lots of color, texture, grunge, weird stuff, old stuff. I can see that Chris and I are going to have to return, and not in a cross-country mad dash kind of way. Here you see various signs, murals, and billboards I found here and there. It's kitsch. It's retro. It's fun. ©Carol Leigh

Route 66

This cross-country trip is a non-photographing trip, which is just killing me. But in Tucumcari, New Mexico the other day (was it yesterday? the day before? it's becoming a blur) I had to shoot this old motel sign. We're currently in Barstow, California, having left Gallup, New Mexico just this morning. The Roadtrek is running great. Looking forward to getting home, getting caught up with my business and with my life. P.S. Elena, I waved as we passed through the top part (the narrow) part of Texas, but you probably were too busy on your computer to see me. Wish we'd been able to go through Dallas so I could meet you! ©Carol Leigh
