Latest work: "Galvanized Paint"

I've begun creating physical paintings that look like worn, weathered, galvanized metal, and am having so much fun creating them. Acrylic on paper, 15.5" x 28.9" and then tweaked just a bit in the computer to be offered at Fine Art America.

Abstracts anywhere . . .

While walking down a back alley in Tucson, Arizona, there was this glorious fence made from galvanized metal. I liked how the bits and pieces came together, some a warm rusty color and others a sunwashed blue.

Not only did I enjoy the moment, the act of creating a variety of abstract photographs, but I knew that later, when I got home, I would use these same abstract images to make a number of physical collages.

And that's my next art assignment when I return home -- create collages made from my photographic inspirations.

We are on Whidbey Island visiting friends. My only camera is the cellphone . . . yikes! We'll see how this goes . . . Scary not to have the big guns with me.

Galvanized by metal . . .

While in Tucson, I was excited by seeing this big ol' fence made of galvanized metal. I liked the combination of blue and rust colors, the linear compositions I could create where the various layers of metals came together, and then the cool shadows, which added not only depth, but strong compositional elements as well.

It amuses people to see me shoot this stuff. And I'm amused by their amusement. Win-win!
